Fertility Assessment For Couples in London

Save £200 this July on a Couple's Fertility Assessment - £375 instead of £575

For heterosexual couples, we offer a complete fertility assessment that includes both partners. This is suitable for couples who are considering fertility treatment or may wish to start a family and want to gain a clear picture of their chances of conceiving naturally.

Your fertility assessment includes:

  • Pelvic ultrasound scan: Otherwise known as a transvaginal or gynaecological scan, this test uses ultrasound imaging to examine the morphology of the ovaries and uterus, ovarian reserve, and general health of your reproductive system.
  • Ovarian Reserve Assessment: Evaluation of your ovarian reserve by assessing the Antral Follicle Count (AFC), an indirect measurement of the number of eggs present within your ovaries.
  • Semen analysis: Otherwise known as a seminogram. During a semen analysis, a semen sample is analysed to establish the sperm count (or sperm concentration), sperm motility (how the sperm move) and sperm morphology (or its shape). In some cases, sperm quality is affected by certain lifestyle factors, such as drinking alcohol, smoking or being overweight. Your consultant can discuss your results with you and advise whether changing lifestyle habits could increase your potential to conceive.
  • A 60 minute review consultation with one of our fertility specialists: You’ll meet with a doctor to discuss your pelvic ultrasound scan and semen analysis results. The most suitable next steps will be discussed based on your circumstances.

Why get a fertility test for couples?

Whether you’re actively trying to conceive or planning for the future, a joint fertility assessment helps provide clarity for both partners. For heterosexual couples, the assessment combines female reproductive health checks with a full semen analysis for the male partner. This approach offers a clearer picture of your fertility potential as a couple, helping identify any factors that may be affecting your chances of conceiving.

We also offer fertility testing options for same-sex female couples. Each partner can undergo a pelvic ultrasound to assess ovarian reserve and overall reproductive health. These insights are particularly helpful when planning treatments such as IUI or reciprocal IVF.

Frequently Asked Questions

A couple’s fertility test includes both female and male tests to assess overall fertility health. At IVI, our fertility assessment for heterosexual couples includes a pelvic ultrasound scan, semen analysis, and a consultation with a fertility doctor to review results and recommend next steps.

A couple’s fertility test provides a complete picture of your fertility status, helping you understand your ability to conceive naturally. It’s an ideal first step for couples starting their fertility journey, even if you’re not ready to begin treatment straight away.

A fertility check can detect any early fertility issues, helping you make informed decisions about family planning. By identifying potential obstacles early on, you and your fertility consultant can explore options such as fertility preservation or IVF treatment if necessary.

Male fertility testing, typically in the form of a semen analysis, is a key part of any couple’s fertility test. It evaluates sperm count, motility, and morphology. Since fertility is a shared factor between partners, testing male fertility is just as important as female fertility assessment.

Female fertility testing includes a pelvic exam and a transvaginal ultrasound scan to assess the ovaries, uterus, and ovarian reserve. These female tests help determine if there are any structural or hormonal issues that might affect your fertility.

Yes, we offer fertility health assessments for lesbian couples. Each partner can undergo a pelvic ultrasound to check ovarian reserve and overall fertility. This helps you understand your fertility potential and plan your treatment pathway.

In most cases, you’ll review your results during your consultation with a fertility doctor. Your fertility consultant will explain your fertility status in detail and help you plan the next steps in your fertility journey, whether that includes further testing or beginning treatment.

Bring any previous fertility test results or medical records if you’ve had fertility treatment before. This helps your fertility clinic consultant build a complete picture of your fertility history and avoid repeating tests unnecessarily.

IVI is home to some of the UK’s leading fertility experts. Our fertility clinic in London offers a personalised approach, with experienced consultants, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to supporting you throughout your fertility journey with compassion and clarity.

Not necessarily. A fertility test is often the first step in understanding your fertility health. Some couples find reassurance from their results, while others may decide to explore options like IVF treatment, lifestyle changes, or fertility preservation after completing a series of fertility tests.
