Choosing to start your fertility journey is a big moment, and it can also be a daunting one. So we have written this blog to help you get the most out of your IVI first consultation.

Be ready to answer the Doctor’s questions

To determine the right treatment for you, the doctor will ask you a lot of questions about both you and your partner (if applicable). The sort of things we will cover will range from the age you started your period to how many times you are currently having intercourse if applicable. , as well as previous treatments and past pregnancies you might have had. Be prepared to answer these questions and have the answers to hand.

Know your medication

As you may or may not be aware, in most cases of treatment you will be expected to take certain types of medication, mainly hormone replacements. Therefore, having an understanding of what medication you are currently on will help the doctor determine the next steps. Where the woman is looking for preservation treatment, she may still be on the contraceptive pill and this can sometimes affect test results. For example, your AMH level might be slightly lower if still on the pill. Take note of all the medication you are on and be sure to highlight that to your doctor in your first visit.

Bring someone with you

If you can, we recommend that you bring someone with you. Fertility treatment can be an emotional rollercoaster so having someone there for moral support will help you on your journey. Having someone else there also allows them to ask any questions or highlight anything that you may have missed.

Give yourself plenty of time

IVI London is located in the heart of the medical district. Depending on how you want to travel make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get here. We also ask that you arrive 30 minutes early to fill out any paperwork in order to get you registered as a new patient.

Know what you want to ask
