Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our IVI London clinic team, assisting the nursing staff. The post holder will take responsibility for co-coordinating key aspects of service provision, actively maintaining a high standard of care in accordance with IVI’s policies and procedures and the quality management manual. They will be aware of the responsibilities and limitations of a Healthcare Assistant.

 

Main duties include:

  • Using a variety of sources of information to assess the couples’ needs and understand the knowledge that underpins this assessment.
  • Implementing and evaluating basic care for a couple with collaboration from a registered nurse.
  • Undertaking core clinical activities to ensure patients are comfortable and their privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Carrying out agreed components of care in collaboration with a registered nurse, but without the need for close supervision, including assisting the medical team with oocyte retrievals, cyst aspirations and surgical retrieval of sperm.
  • Maintaining accurate, legible and legally substantive records of care.
  • Taking routine blood samples as directed by a member of the nursing team.
  • Working with the management team to collect and prepare data for audit and reports.

Required qualifications:

  • Good standard of education
  • NVQ Level 2

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Evidence of post-basic training

Job type: Full-time

Salary: £24,000.00 per year

Fertility Consultant

We are looking for an experienced IVF/Fertility Consultant to join our IVI London clinic team. The post holder will take responsibility for safe and effective clinical management of patients while actively maintaining a high standard of care.

 

Main duties include:

  • Reviewing couples attending the clinic for assisted reproduction treatment, such as checking medical histories and risk factors to ensure suitability
  • Checking appropriateness of drug regimens for ovulation induction
  • Monitoring response to ovarian stimulation
  • Carrying out egg retrievals and embryo transfers
  • Participating in a weekend rota in the clinic and providing on-call medical cover when required.
  • Pursuing an active research programme in the field of reproductive medicine.
  • Participating in the collection of data concerning patients attending the clinic.

Required qualifications:

  • CCST or equivalent in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Entry on the Specialist Register or eligible for entry by providing evidence of the projected CCST date on a RITA G form
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • Enrolment on the RCOG CPD

Knowledge and experience:

  • Evidence of having worked at a senior level in an IVF Unit
  • Evidence of having worked in a clinical team
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively

Administration Officer

We are looking for a Administration Officer to join our team in IVI London. The successful applicant will be a motivated individual with excellent customer care and time management skills who is able to work in a busy, fast-paced environment.

 

Main duties include:

  • Gaining a working knowledge of the specialist areas within the clinic enabling sympathetic communication to patients and effective support to the clinical teams.
  • Receiving and welcoming patients to the clinic, ensuring the highest standards of customer care are maintained.
  • Giving information, face to face and over the telephone, to prospective patients, patients in treatment and healthcare professionals regarding the work of the clinic and their treatment cycles, ensuring that it is up to date and accurate.
  • Processing payments for services and as required chase outstanding payments, in line with company policy.
  • Assisting in the updating of patient case notes, including the checking of confidential personal information on the relevant computer systems, making amendments to medical record case notes, correcting details on computer systems and producing labels.
  • Ensuring that all patient information, computer systems and offices are kept secure in line with company protocols, HFEA regulations and Quality Management Standards.

Required qualifications:

  • Good general education
  • Typing / Word processing qualification (desirable)

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of delivering high standards of customer care in a front of house environment
  • Experience of managing own workload
  • Experience of working within healthcare (desirable)

Fertility Nurse

We are looking for a Fertility Nurse to join our team in IVI London. The successful applicant will be one of a group of specialist fertility nurses working within the clinic, responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and implementing high quality care.

 

Main duties include:

  • Developing a satisfactory level of clinical competence in ART skills in order to plan and co-ordinate treatment cycles and to undertake specific investigations such as endocrine profiles.
  • Assisting in the management and support of sub-fertile couples before, during and after treatment cycles and providing information and implications counselling to ensure informed consent is given and consent forms completed.
  • Demonstrating use of excellent communication skills to support patients and families in highly stressful situations (e.g. breaking bad news, diagnosis of ectopic or miscarriage, managing bereavement) both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Keeping an accurate record for each patient of all communication and clinical activity relevant to his or her treatment, in line with NMC regulations, and assisting with the collation of all data resulting from the procedures to satisfy HFEA regulations.
  • In conjunction with senior nursing staff, being responsible for the booking of the patient’s treatment cycle, planning drug prescribing and liaising with GPs, and explaining the individualised treatment schedule including potential side effects of the drug treatment and demonstration of injection administration.
  • Supervising and assisting in the preparation and care of the patient and her partner before, during and after procedures such as oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, intrauterine insemination and donor insemination, and supporting medical staff with these procedures.
  • Managing difficult situations with competence, taking appropriate action, utilising relevant protocols and supporting the patient, their relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team as required
  • Working with the Nurse Manager to ensure that there is an active and appropriate teaching programme to meet the needs of staff and the service and to be proactive within this programme.
  • Ensuring COSHH, Infection Control, Risk Management, medicines management and maintenance of health and safety within the clinic is implemented according to the company policy and national legislation, and ensuring compliance with CQC, ICO, HSCIC and HFEA standards.
  • Contributing to the continuing development of professional nursing practice within the clinic, while taking responsibility for own personal and professional growth and maintaining a record of professional development experiences in line with NMC revalidation processes.

Required qualifications:

  • 1st level registration with NMC registration
  • First degree (desirable)
  • Teaching or mentoring qualification (desirable)

Knowledge and experience:

  • Interest in Women’s Health
  • Knowledge of change management
  • Understanding of clinical governance and audit issues
  • Experience in gynaecology (desirable)

Theatre Co-Ordinator / Fertility Nurse

We are looking for a Theatre Co-Ordinator / Fertility Nurse to join our team in IVI London. The successful applicant must be either a nurse registered with the Nursing or Midwifery council or a registered ODP and will take responsibility for managing and co-ordinating the theatre and recovery area of the department.

 

Main duties include:

  • Being responsible for the assessment of care required by patients in conjunction with other nursing and medical staff and with the co-operation of the patient and the relatives, using effective communication skills.
  • Developing a satisfactory level of clinical competence in ART skills in order to plan and co-ordinate
    treatment cycles and to undertake specific investigations such as endocrine profiles.
  • Assisting in the management and support of sub-fertile couples before, during and after treatment cycles and providing information and implications counselling to ensure informed consent is given and consent forms completed.
  • Providing skilled care to patients throughout the pre, peri and post-operative journey.
  • Supervising and assisting in the preparation and care of the patient and her partner before, during and after procedures such as oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, intrauterine insemination and donor insemination, and supporting medical staff with these procedures.
  • Ensuring, in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, that procedures/policies are in place so that emergency/crisis situations are managed with competence and that patients/relatives and staff members are adequately supported during and after the event.
  • Contributing, in conjunction with other team members, to the development and implementation of in-house education and training programmes and to be proactive within this programme.
  • Ensuring COSHH, Infection Control, Risk Management, medicines management and maintenance of health and safety within the clinic is implemented according to the company policy and national legislation, and ensuring compliance with CQC, ICO, HSCIC and HFEA standards.
  • Contributing to the continuing development of professional nursing practice within the clinic, while taking responsibility for own personal and professional growth and maintaining a record of professional development experiences in line with NMC revalidation processes.
  • Acting always within the NMC / HPC scope of professional practice and code of professional conduct
    respecting patient safety and confidentiality.

  • Experience within theatres, recovery or day surgery
  • First degree (desirable)
  • Teaching or mentoring qualification (desirable)

  • IV drug administration
  • Experience in gynaecology or theatres (desirable)
